Thailand's SEC Accuses Bitget of Unlicensed Operation, Plans to Block Its Website and App on December 5
PANews, November 5: Thailand's Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced today that it has filed a criminal complaint with the Economic Crime Suppression Division (ECD) against BG Limited (the operator of the Bitget platform), alleging that it operated a digital asset exchange business without a license. In addition, the SEC has notified the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES) to block access to Bitget starting December 5, with the restriction covering Bitget's website, other associated domains and its mobile application. The SEC's investigation found that between 2022 and 2025, Bitget provided a digital asset trading system and collected fees, and also ran a Thai-language website, supported THB-denominated pricing, and promoted itself to Thai users through social media channels such as "Bitget Thailand."
Thailand's SEC filed a criminal complaint against Bitget for unlicensed operation and will block its website and app from Dec 5, which directly raises compliance and access risk for the exchange; users may withdraw funds or move to other platforms, so Bitget and similar unlicensed offshore exchanges face short-term bearish pressure (medium).
