This article is about how many millionaires are there in the US. Many people wonder how millionaires accumulate their wealth and what are the main sources of their income.

How Many Millionaires Are There in the US?

According to the Credit Suisse Global Wealth Report 2021. there were 22.4 million millionaires in the US as of June 2021. which is about 6.8% of the total adult population. This means that one in every 15 adults in the US is a millionaire. The US has the largest number of millionaires in the world, accounting for 39% of the global total. The next closest country is China, with 5.3 million millionaires, followed by Japan, with 3.4 million.

The US also has the most ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNWIs), which are those with a net worth of more than $50 million. There were 105.000 UHNWIs in the US as of June 2021. which is about 0.03% of the adult population. This means that one in every 3.300 adults in the US is an UHNWI. The US has 46% of the global UHNWI population, followed by China with 10% and Germany with 5%.

The number of millionaires in the US has grown significantly over the years, especially after the global financial crisis of 2008-2009. Between 2010 and 2021. the number of millionaires increased by 170%, from 8.3 million to 22.4 million. The main drivers of this growth were the recovery of the stock market, the rise of technology and innovation sectors, and the creation of new businesses and opportunities.

What are the Sources of Millionaire Wealth?

There is no single answer to this question, as different millionaires have different paths and strategies to achieve their financial goals. However, some of the most common sources of millionaire wealth are:

- Business ownership: Many millionaires are entrepreneurs who own and run their own businesses, whether they are small or large, online or offline, local or global. Business ownership allows them to create value, innovate, solve problems, and leverage their skills and passions. Some examples of millionaire entrepreneurs are Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Oprah Winfrey, and Sara Blakely.

- Investments: Many millionaires are investors who use their money to generate more money. They invest in various assets, such as stocks, bonds, real estate, commodities, cryptocurrencies, art, and collectibles. They also diversify their portfolios to reduce risk and maximize returns. Some examples of millionaire investors are Warren Buffett, Ray Dalio, George Soros, Paul Tudor Jones, and Cathie Wood.

- Savings: Many millionaires are savers who live below their means and save a large portion of their income. They avoid unnecessary expenses, such as debt, fees, taxes, and lifestyle inflation. They also take advantage of compound interest, which allows their money to grow exponentially over time. Some examples of millionaire savers are David Bach, Ramit Sethi, Mr. Money Mustache, Suze Orman, and Dave Ramsey.

- Inheritance: Many millionaires are inheritors who receive wealth from their parents or relatives. They benefit from the intergenerational transfer of assets, such as businesses, properties, stocks, or trusts. They also have access to family networks and connections that can provide them with opportunities and support. Some examples of millionaire inheritors are Paris Hilton, Ivanka Trump, Bill Gates III, Kylie Jenner, and Prince William.

- Talent: Many millionaires are talented individuals who excel in their fields and earn high incomes from their work. They have unique skills, abilities, or talents that are in high demand and command premium prices. They also have personal brands that attract fans and followers who are willing to pay for their products or services. Some examples of millionaire talents are Cristiano Ronaldo, Taylor Swift, James Patterson, Ellen DeGeneres, and Dwayne Johnson.
