Let's say you want to start experimenting with Ethereum and you want to add ETH token address in MetaMask. The first thing you need is a wallet app. Wallets allow you to store coins and interact with different protocols. In this tutorial, we will show you how to set up a MetaMask wallet, one of the most popular wallets for interacting with Ethereum.
How to add ETH token address in MetaMask?
There are two methods to add ETH token address in MetaMask.
They are :
- Advanced automatic token detection
- Manually add tokens using search
Advanced automatic token detection
This method is only available in a certain network.
Token detection only works with:
- Mobile: Ethereum Mainnet, Avalanche, BNB Smart Chain, Polygon
- Scaling: Ethereum mainnet only
The user needs to enable automatic token detection. Just a few steps. First, click the logo in the upper right corner, navigate to Settings, then click Experiments, and make sure the switch is turned on. You can turn it off at any time if desired.
Manually add tokens using search
To view your tokens, click the Assets tab. Your tokens should be listed under this tab. If not, and automatic token detection didn't pick them up, click "Import Tokens" at the bottom.
Clicking the import token will take you to the search bar.
- Enter the word contained in the token to search for. For example, if I want to find Chainlink (symbol: LINK), I can just type "LI" in the bar and the search bar will return all suggestions.
- Select the token of interest and click Next to continue.
- Click Add Token to continue.
- You can see that the token You just added was in the list.
