In this article, you will learn how to bridge from Ethereum to Polygon. It is possible to bridge tokens from Ethereum to Polygon because of the interoperability between these two networks. The Polygon Mainnet is designed as a Layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum, meaning that it is built on top of the network and is able to communicate with it seamlessly. This allows users to easily bridge tokens from Ethereum to Polygon and vice versa.

How to Bridge from Ethereum to Polygon?

Bridging from Ethereum to Polygon (formerly known as Matic) involves transferring tokens or assets from the Ethereum network to the Polygon network using a bridge. Here are the steps to bridge from Ethereum to Polygon:

Set up a Polygon wallet: If you don't have a Polygon wallet yet, you can create one on the Polygon website. You can choose from several wallets, including MetaMask, WalletConnect, and Fortmatic.

Transfer Ethereum to your Polygon wallet: You will need to have some Ethereum in your Polygon wallet to pay for gas fees and to bridge your assets. You can transfer Ethereum to your Polygon wallet by sending it from your Ethereum wallet to your Polygon wallet address.

Connect your Polygon wallet to the Polygon Bridge: Once you have some Ethereum in your Polygon wallet, you can connect it to the Polygon Bridge by visiting the Polygon Bridge website and selecting the "Connect Wallet" option. Choose the wallet you want to use and connect it.

Select the asset you want to bridge: After connecting your wallet, select the asset you want to bridge from Ethereum to Polygon. The Polygon Bridge currently supports several ERC-20 tokens, including USDT, USDC, DAI, WBTC, and others.

Enter the amount you want to bridge: Once you've selected the asset you want to bridge, enter the amount you want to bridge and click on "Bridge". This will initiate the bridging process, which may take a few minutes depending on the network congestion.

Wait for the bridging process to complete: After initiating the bridging process, you will need to wait for it to complete. Once the process is complete, you should see the bridged assets in your Polygon wallet.

Now, you have successfully bridged assets from Ethereum to Polygon. Keep in mind that you will need to pay gas fees on both Ethereum and Polygon networks during the bridging process. Also, make sure to double-check the addresses and the amount you're bridging before initiating the process.

What Tokens can you Bridge from Ethereum to Polygon?

You can bridge various tokens from Ethereum to Polygon, including but not limited to:

- USDC (US Dollar Coin)

- USDT (Tether)

- DAI (Dai Stablecoin)

- WBTC (Wrapped Bitcoin)

- LINK (Chainlink)

- AAVE (Aave)

- UNI (Uniswap)

- SNX (Synthetix Network Token)

- SUSHI (SushiSwap)

- QUICK (QuickSwap)

- MATIC (Polygon)

- WETH (Wrapped Ethereum)

These tokens are all ERC-20 tokens, which means they are based on the Ethereum network and can be transferred to Polygon using a bridge. The Polygon Bridge currently supports several ERC-20 tokens, but it is important to check which tokens are currently supported Before initiating the bridging process, as the list of supported tokens may change over time.

Bottom Line

As Ethereum and Polygon are two of the most popular networks globally, they are supported on almost every single bridge. This article is about how to bridge from Ethereum to Polygon.
