Americans who use PayPal can use the site to directly purchase cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. The functionality will go out to "certain overseas markets" in the first half of 2021. PayPal's digital wallet cannot be used to transmit Bitcoin purchased using PayPal. So if you want to know how to buy bitcoin and other coins with paypal in 2022, I suggest you continue reading this article.

PayPal stated in November 2020 that all U.S. account holders would have access to its platform to buy and trade cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin. The news came after it declared in October 2020 that it will collaborate with Paxos Crypto Brokerage to offer alternatives for buying and selling cryptocurrencies.

Can we buy alt coins with paypal?

Within the PayPal digital wallet, users can buy Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, and Litecoin.

The company said in a brief statement that users in the United States will soon be able to use cryptocurrencies to buy goods from its 26 million merchants worldwide. "We are pleased to announce that all eligible PayPal account holders in the U.S. can now buy, hold and sell cryptocurrency directly with PayPal," the statement continued. At the point of sale, payments will be converted into fiat.

How about other countries than the US?

When the UK became the first nation outside of the United States to permit PayPal clients to buy, sell, and keep Bitcoin in August 2021, PayPal had previously promised that cryptocurrency buying and selling functions will be introduced to "certain foreign markets." PayPal also launched cryptocurrency buying capabilities to Venmo in April 2021. In August 2021, consumers will also be able to convert their cash into cryptocurrency.

How to buy bitcoin with paypal in 2022

You obviously need a PayPal account, so let's get that out of the way first. If you don't already have one, you can create one at PayPal by providing an email address, a credit card, or a bank account.

It is now time to purchase some BTC. Both the PayPal website and the PayPal app offer a largely comparable user experience; however, for this tour, we're utilizing the website. Choose the "Buy Bitcoin and more" banner that is shown towards the top of the page on the home screen (the "Payments" tab in the app).

Choose the coin you want to purchase next. Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, and Litecoin are the available currencies for purchase and sale on PayPal at the moment. PayPal also offers resources for learning about cryptocurrencies and notes the associated dangers.

You can choose a predetermined quantity of Bitcoin to buy or touch "Buy" to choose your own amount. Users can purchase as low as $1.00's worth of Bitcoin, up to $100,000 every week. PayPal provides a brief summary of the asset being purchased underneath the buy option.

The exciting part follows: purchasing Bitcoin. Enter the desired purchase amount (in this case, $10). The price of Bitcoin varies depending on when you press the trigger, according to a helpful note: "Until you buy or sell, the exchange rate is refreshed often and contains a spread." To advance to the following screen, select Next.

Your PayPal account's related bank account or credit/debit card is displayed. At this time, you can also add other cards or bank accounts.

Review your purchase after clicking "Next." For consumer-to-consumer transactions, PayPal's transaction fees are minimal; they vary from 50 cents for purchases under $25 to 1.5% of the transaction for those above $1,000. When you are prepared to make a purchase, click "Buy Now."

The quantity of cryptocurrency acquired and its current value will be updated in the account once the transaction has been completed.

When you get back to the home page, your Bitcoin purchase will be listed under "crypto" with the option to sell and buy.

The amount of fiat money converted from cryptocurrency sold through the PayPal app or website will be displayed in the Cash Account balance section of the user's account. Users can estimate their possible fees by using the fee schedule and conversion spread provided by PayPal.
