NFT newcomers and fans can receive, store, and transmit NFTs from their mobile devices using the mobile MetaMask wallet. Once configured, the wallet links you to online shops so you may buy and keep digital treasures right in your wallet. This manual explains how to set up your wallet and begin receiving NFTs.

For Ethereum and EVM-compatible networks, MetaMask is the de facto crypto wallet, making it the top option for investors who want to keep their digital assets on external wallets (ie not exchange wallets). The mobile platform is the only one with NFT capabilities , though; web-based compatibility is not currently enabled.

In MetaMask, there are two methods to receive NFTs: either you transmit from another wallet or you buy from a market. We won't use the Ethereum main net for this guide due to its hefty fees. Instead, we'll use the Polygon network to buy an NFT from OpenSea.

Similar to purchasing NFTs from OpenSea on Ethereum, but with lower fees. Be consistent with the network you use, though. You must always send and receive that specific NFT on the Polygon network if you buy it from the Polygon network.

Buy an NFT on a marketplace.

You must first fund your account by transferring ETH to your MetaMask ETH address from another wallet or a controlled exchange. To access your Ethereum receive address, tap the receive icon, or scan the QR code with the wallet app you want to use to send money .

You must set up Polygon on MetaMask as a custom RPC network in order to use the Polygon network; this may be done under the wallet settings. But this is outside the purview of this manual.

We set up the Polygon network and added some MATIC to our wallet before converting it to ETH.

Navigate to your favourite NFT marketplace, such as OpenSea, next. Make that the market you're browsing is compatible with your network; since OpenSea is compatible with Ethereum and Polygon, we're set to go.

Select "Browser" by tapping the hamburger menu symbol in the top left corner of the application. You will be directed to a page that resembles the one in the image below where you may select from a variety of dapps and markets.

Navigate to OpenSea and choose "Art & Collectibles."

To connect your wallet, tap the hamburger menu bar in the upper right corner once there.

If your wallet won't connect, you're likely to use an unsupported network, which could happen if you've configured multiple custom networks. Change your wallet to the network that is supported by the marketplace in that scenario.

On marketplaces, NFTs either have a fixed purchase price, an auction period, or a hybrid auction with a "Buy now" option that enables customers to choose between bidding and making a fixed-price purchase.

Large NFT collections may have either a fixed price or a hybrid auction + purchase now option, while one-of-ones are often auctioned.

When you see an NFT you like, tap on it and scroll down to see what choices are available for making a purchase. We paid a set amount for a collectible to be used in this guide. Select "Buy Now" to complete the purchase. Return to the wallet after making a purchase to view your NFT.

How to Receive NFT from Other Wallets

NFTs on OpenSea are metadata-bound ERC-721 tokens. Images, films, domain names, trading cards, virtual worlds, and even financial instruments could be included in this metadata.

As with jpegs, the contract (the NFT) remains on the blockchain but the image (metadata) is stored elsewhere. As a result, NFTs can be transmitted to public wallet addresses just like conventional ERC-20 tokens.

Make sure you are sending to the appropriate network and address. We need to send the NFT we just bought through the Polygon network. The NFT could not arrive if it was sent to another network.

How do I get NFTs to show on MetaMask?

Swipe right to the NFT area of the wallet to display NFTs. After a purchase, MetaMask doesn't always show NFTs in your wallet automatically. To access your collectable, you may occasionally need to import the ERC-721 token contract address into your MetaMask NFT wallet.

As NFTs proliferate in the Cryptoverse, you must understand how to receive NFTs from the most widely used wallet for crypto (MetaMask).
