How to resolve MetaMask transactions stuck?
You may have experience sending a transaction in Metamask whose status remains pending in the Active tab. Whenever this happens, it blocks any other transactions while the transaction is queued. do not worry! In this article, we will explain how to fix this problem and avoid it in the future.
1. Enable custom transaction Nonce
- Open your MetaMask plugin
- Click the colored circle icon in the upper right corner and click Settings from the drop-down menu
- In the Settings menu, select Advanced
- Scroll down until you see Advanced Gas Controls. Toggle this ON
- Still, in Advanced Settings, keep scrolling until you see Custom Transaction Nonces. Toggle this ON
2. Find Your Stuck Transaction
- Return to MetaMask's home page. In the Assets tab, find the token type of your stuck transaction (CAKE in this case)
- In the token's menu, find your pending transaction in the queue area. Click on your transaction for more details
- Find the Nonce entry, and note this number
3. Overwrite the Stuck Transaction
- Create a new transaction to replace your stuck transaction. This time, increase the transaction fee. Here we increase it from 9 to 20. This will make your transaction more likely to be added to a block
- On the confirmation page, make sure your Gas Price is now at the new higher amount
- Find the CUSTOM NONCE entry and change the nonce to the number you noted in step 7. Now click Confirm
- Your new transaction should now be accepted into a block. To check, open MetaMask and click the Activities tab
- Your completed transactions should appear at the top of your activity list. If it still shows "Pending" in orange, you need to wait longer or try the process again with a higher transaction fee (gas price).
