Who Owns OpenSea? Devin Finzer and Alex Atallah founded OpenSea in 2017. They each hold an estimated value of USD 2.2 billion and hold 18.5 percent of the company. How Does OpenSea Make Money? Let's see.

How Does OpenSea Make Money?

The strategy for OpenSea's revenue creation is rather simple. Service fees are charged as part of the transaction when a digital asset is sold on the company's platform. An NFT selling for $200 earns $5 for OpenSea with a service fee of 2.5 percent.

Gas fees

To cover the cost of the computational resources required to execute and validate Ethereum blockchain transactions, OpenSea also charges gas fees. Buyers pay the gas fee when making fixed-price purchases, while sellers pay the same fee when accepting bids.

Gas fees are further due when freezing metadata, withdrawing a bid, changing WETH into ETH, and listing an NFT.

Account registration fees

New sellers are required to pay an account initiation fee before they can list products on OpenSea. These charges are ostensibly made to make trading possible between the seller's wallet and OpenSea. After a sale, the corporation is also given access to transfer items thanks to the charge.

Contract approval fees

Users must also pay a one-time approval charge for approving transactions in order to sell an item that was created using a custom NFT contract. This fee is additionally due if a new coin, such as DAI and USDC, is utilized for the first time.

Conclusion: Who Owns OpenSea? How Does OpenSea Make Money?

OpenSea is a marketplace for the sale of digital assets, and its cheap transaction fees are the foundation of its business model. As OpenSea grows in popularity, more transactions are predicted to occur, which will enhance the platform's revenue from transaction fees.

In order to avoid customers having to take the chance of losing thousands of dollars to a scam, they aim to provide users with a safe and secure means to buy and sell the digital assets they desire. The core of their value proposition for users is this .In terms of business, that means allocating a sizable percentage of their resources to transparency and trust, which has helped users' confidence in the platform continue to grow and increased revenue.
