Singapore-based crypto-fiat payment gateway Alchemy Pay has revealed its expansion plans into the U.S. market, signaling its growth by acquiring a money services license from the state of Iowa. The acquisition of this license is in accordance with local state regulations, obligating any entity involved in currency exchange or remittance businesses in Iowa to possess this license.
Previously, in September, Alchemy Pay secured a money transmitter license (MTL) in Arkansas. The company has submitted applications for MTL licenses in various other U.S. states and anticipates receiving responses in the forthcoming months.
Robert McCracken, leading the Alchemy Pay ecosystem, discussed the company's approach in the U.S. crypto landscape. McCracken highlighted the focus on aligning with currency regulatory frameworks, emphasizing the significance of a well-structured regulatory environment for sustainable growth. He expressed optimism, envisioning significant potential for the crypto payments sector to become a dominant industry in the future. Alchemy Pay operates in 173 countries through diverse payment channels such as Visa, Mastercard, regional mobile wallets, and domestic transfers.
Emphasizing their commitment to expansion and adherence to compliance requirements, Alchemy Pay's executives reiterated their intent to vigorously pursue licenses and regulatory compliance as they continue their business growth. McCracken acknowledged the challenge of this path but underscored its importance in ensuring the right trajectory for the company. According to McCracken, building core competencies and upholding the highest compliance standards are pivotal for the long-term success of the crypto payments sector.
Beyond the U.S. market, Alchemy Pay also disclosed its efforts in pursuing license applications in the UK and Hong Kong, as per their recent announcement. Meanwhile, U.S. regulators are deliberating on a comprehensive set of regulations that would encompass the entire crypto industry, shaping the landscape for future operations and compliance within the country.
