New NFT-related rules are added in Article 3.1.1 of Apple's App Store Review Guidelines, that is, "Apps can use in-App purchases to sell and sell NFT-related services, such as minting, publishing, and transfer. Apps may allow users to view their own NFTs, provided that NFT ownership does not unlock content or functionality within the app. Apps may allow users to browse collections of NFTs owned by others, provided that these apps do not contain buttons, external links, or other instructive language, these buttons, external links, or other introductory language that direct customers to purchasing mechanisms other than in-app purchases.”
Analysts believe that Apple's move may prevent users from buying NFTs, because the main use case of NFTs is to unlock "Token-gated content". In addition, Apple said developers must not create “buttons, external links, or other calls to action” to tell users how to bypass the App Store to buy NFTs through other platforms. Instead, the App Store expects its users to make in-app purchases.
