The allocated funds are earmarked to bolster the development of Avail's three primary products, collectively dubbed the "Avail Trinity," aimed at accelerating the integration of Web3 technology. These core components include the Data Availability Layer, the Nexus Unification Layer, and the Converged Security Layer.
Joey Krug, a partner at Founders Fund, highlighted the potential of Avail's modular blockchain infrastructure in fostering greater interoperability within the Web3 ecosystem. He emphasized the team's expertise, technological framework, and burgeoning ecosystem, which collectively enable a more modular design space for projects built upon Avail's infrastructure. Krug underscored the significance of decoupling various layers of the blockchain to achieve substantial scalability improvements and address existing fragmentation issues in the field.
Anurag Arjun, co-founder of Avail, emphasized the increasing reliance on layer 2 aggregation for blockchain scaling, emphasizing the growing importance of unified frameworks in the Web3 landscape. Arjun envisioned a future where rollup tools evolve to facilitate the seamless deployment of application-specific rollups, akin to the ease of deploying smart contracts today. He stressed the imperative for different chains to communicate seamlessly to mitigate potential UX fragmentation issues in a landscape characterized by numerous interconnected chains.
At present, the total value locked (TVL) in L2 Rollups stands at $24.93 billion, representing an 8.76% increase over the past week. Arbitrum One emerges as the dominant protocol, commanding over 50% of the aggregated value locked, with a TVL of $12.98 billion, as reported by L2Beat.
Initially incubated within Polygon Labs in 2021, Avail later evolved into an independent venture. In July 2023, the project released a test bridge to Ethereum, facilitating the creation of validium, a cost-effective layer 2 solution that minimizes the storage of full transaction data on the primary network. Avail is spearheaded by Anurag Arjun and Prabal Banerjee, former head of research at Polygon, as they drive forward their vision for a more interconnected and scalable Web3 ecosystem.
