He Yi, the co-founder and CMO of Binance, provided clarification regarding the freezing of crypto accounts associated with Hamas militants in Israel. She emphasized that the actions were specifically aimed at Hamas, a local militant group, and not at the broader Palestinian population. He Yi argued that no trading platform can refuse such a request, pointing out that Hamas, which has been implicated in the killing of civilians, is a distinct entity from the Palestinian government.
On October 10, Israeli authorities reportedly froze crypto accounts belonging to Hamas militants with the assistance of Binance. It was alleged that these accounts were being used by terrorists to collect funds related to warfare activities through social media. The move came in the midst of ongoing tensions in the region.
He Yi also reassured that the freezing of these accounts would not impact ordinary users, including Palestinian civilians. She cited past instances, such as the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, during which Binance did not freeze the accounts of regular citizens.
