Cryptocurrency influencer Ben Armstrong, formerly known as "BitBoy," reportedly faced arrest while live streaming outside the residence of a former business partner he claimed owned his Lamborghini.
Before the YouTube livestream, Armstrong posted that he would be "livestreaming from a very special location very soon." Less than an hour later, he initiated a live broadcast from consultant and non-fungible token investor Carlos Diaz's house, who is believed to have links to the Hit Network.
During the livestream, Armstrong made allegations against Diaz, including claims that Diaz wanted to harm him and had connections to the Houston Mafia. He vehemently confronted Diaz, stating he wasn't afraid. Approximately 19 minutes into the live broadcast, local police arrived, inquiring whether Armstrong was armed, to which he responded in the negative.
Armstrong was then instructed to put down his phone, and for the next 17 minutes, the video feed went blank, although the audio of the conversation between Armstrong and the police remained audible.
According to the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office in Georgia, Benjamin Charles Armstrong was booked on September 25 at 9:11 pm local time and is currently in custody. Carlos Diaz confirmed on September 26 that Armstrong had shown up at his residence.
Blockchain investigator "ZachXBT" expressed no sympathy, celebrating that one of the most infamous figures in crypto had received his due karma. In late August, the Hit Network, which controlled the "BitBoy Crypto" brand, disassociated itself from Ben Armstrong, citing issues such as substance abuse and financial losses for its employees.
Since then, various lawsuits have been filed and withdrawn by the parties involved. On September 20, Armstrong even appealed for donations to fund his legal actions, which stirred controversy within the cryptocurrency community.
