BNB Chain, the token driving the BNB ecosystem, has introduced an aggregation services solution aimed at facilitating the development of layer 2 blockchains within its network. The announcement, made on March 14, unveiled a new RaaS (Resource as a Service) solution designed to assist projects in establishing second-layer networks on BNB Chain. This initiative aims to enhance the ecosystem by granting projects access to the technical infrastructure necessary for deploying layer 2 networks on the blockchain.
The RaaS service offered by BNB Chain is tailored to support decentralized applications (DApps), enabling a diverse array of vertical projects to be deployed on the second-layer network. This encompasses various sectors such as blockchain gaming and decentralized finance. Moreover, BNB Chain extends rollup management support and provides "no-code" deployment options to accommodate projects with limited coding proficiency.
The second-layer network facilitated by BNB Chain's RaaS service will be constructed on the BNB Smart Chain (BSC), characterized as a foundational first-layer blockchain and governance chain. According to the core development team, the primary objective of this new service is to foster widespread adoption of Web3 technology. By integrating RaaS capabilities with the interconnected features of their ecosystem, developers gain access to a comprehensive toolkit for building efficient and scalable Layer 2 solutions on BSC.
BNB Chain has been actively developing the second-layer network since 2023. The platform launched its opBNB capacity expansion solution, based on the Optimism OP Stack, on the test network on June 20, 2023. This Layer-2 solution is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine, enabling seamless integration with Ethereum-based smart contracts and token standards. Subsequently, on September 13, the scaling platform transitioned to the mainnet, making opBNB publicly accessible following a rigorous testing phase. With reported accomplishments including over 35 million transactions processed and 150 DApps deployed on its testnet, BNB Chain claims that the opBNB platform achieved a notable throughput of 4,000 transactions per second (TPS) in stress tests. The introduction of the Rollup service aligns with BNB Chain's broader objectives outlined earlier in the year, as detailed in its "BNB Chain 2024 Outlook" released on January 31. This roadmap introduced the "One BNB" concept, fostering interconnectivity between BSC and its decentralized storage service, BNB Greenfield.
