XRPL Commons unveiled a new grants program supporting open-source developers, startups, and established blockchain projects building on the XRP Ledger. RippleX amplified the initiative as the ecosystem expands its developer resources.
Key Takeaways
XRPL Commons launched funding programs for open-source developers, startups, and established blockchain companies.RippleX highlighted the program as an additional resource for teams building on the XRP Ledger. The program combines grants with technical guidance, mentorship, and help bringing products to market. The organization said:
“The XRPL Commons Grants Program operates across three tracks, each targeting a distinct builder profile.”
Ripple said more than $550 million has been invested across the XRP Ledger ecosystem since 2017 through various funding initiatives, reflecting growing support for developers and network infrastructure. The new structure is intended to distribute support across independent organizations rather than rely on one central funding source.
The first track, Glow, rewards developers who have already created useful open-source software, documentation, or infrastructure. Open-source work can be inspected, used, and improved by other developers. Glow has funded 11 projects since October 2025, including node-management tools, transaction dashboards, and post-quantum security integrations.
Startups Can Compete, Incubate, and Apply for GrantsSupporting startups, the second track includes three programs. The Aquarium is a nine-week incubator offering mentorship, technical guidance, and business support. Make Waves is a 90-day competition challenging developers to launch applications on the live XRP Ledger network and attract users. Projects compete for a first-place prize of 25,000 XRP through Sept. 21.
Early Stage Grants will provide milestone-based funding, meaning money is released when teams meet agreed development or growth targets. Applicants need a working product on either testnet, a trial environment, or mainnet, the network used for real transactions.
XRPL Commons said:
“Funding is one part of how ecosystems grow. The other part is support to help a developer understand the protocol, a founder to ship their product, and a team to navigate a new chain’s technical and market landscape.”
The third track targets established products with users on other blockchains. XRPL Commons will help those companies add XRP Ledger payment, trading, or settlement functions to their existing services. The organization cited LOBSTR, a wallet originally built for Stellar, as a recent integration.
Unlike the first two tracks, which primarily support open-source contributors and early-stage teams, this program targets established products that can bring existing users and transaction activity to the XRP Ledger.
