AR ES SALAAM, TANZANIA | JULY 2026

Antony Mlelwa is building a distinctly African case for blockchain adoption: technology should be understood before it is promoted, financial risk should be explained before opportunity is celebrated, and education must remain stronger than market hype.

From community workshops in East Africa to Crypto Expo Dubai, the Tanzanian educator is arguing that sustainable blockchain adoption depends on informed people – not merely rising participation.

DAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania, July 2026 – As blockchain technology moves from speculative markets toward institutional finance, tokenized assets and new models of digital ownership, Tanzanian educator Antony Polycarp Mlelwa is making a less glamorous but more durable argument: meaningful adoption must begin with financial education.

Mlelwa is a Certified Financial Educator, blockchain educator, international speaker and founder of DienAcademy. Online, he shares educational content under the social media identity Trizymagno, including through Instagram at @trizymagno. Since beginning his cryptocurrency journey in 2017, he has built a public career focused on helping individuals understand not only the opportunities presented by digital assets, but also their risks, limitations and personal responsibilities.

Since 2020, Mlelwa has also held a commercial and marketing role at Inkryptus Wallet, a crypto wallet platform offering staking rewards through a referral-based independent business owner (IBO) structure.

His work has taken him from classrooms, workshops and online learning communities in East Africa to international industry platforms. He participated as a speaker at Crypto Expo Dubai 2025, contributed to conversations at the Corporate Blockchain Gala 2026 in Dar es Salaam, and has delivered numerous workshops and masterclasses through DienAcademy. He is also scheduled to appear among the speakers at Crypto Expo Dubai 2026, taking place on 9-10 September at Dubai World Trade Centre.

“I do not measure adoption by how many people can purchase a digital asset. I measure it by how many people can explain what they own, why they own it, what risks they are accepting and how they intend to protect themselves.”

– Antony Mlelwa

A Journey That Began Before Crypto Became Mainstream

Mlelwa entered cryptocurrency in 2017, when the industry was still widely viewed as a highly speculative and technically confusing corner of the internet. His early experience was not a story of instant success. Like many participants entering a new and volatile market, he encountered sharp price cycles, fragmented information, technical complexity and the difficult task of separating genuine innovation from persuasive marketing.

Those challenges did not push him away from the field. They changed the questions he was asking. Rather than focusing only on price movements, he began studying the systems beneath them: blockchain architecture, custody, token economics, decentralized finance, market psychology, regulation and the conditions that can turn innovation into financial harm.

That difficult beginning now shapes the central philosophy behind his educational work. People should not enter cryptocurrency merely because they have been shown possible profits. They should first understand what they are buying, how it works, where its value may come from, what assumptions support the investment case and what could cause them to lose money.

From Chemistry and Teaching to Digital Finance

Before building a career in blockchain education, Mlelwa followed a traditional academic path. He holds a Bachelor of Science with Education, specializing in Chemistry and Biology, and began his professional life as a teacher. That scientific and educational foundation continues to shape the way he approaches blockchain and digital assets.

Instead of presenting cryptocurrency as an easy route to wealth, Mlelwa treats it as a subject that must be examined through evidence, systems, cause-and-effect relationships and clearly defined risks. His transition from science education into financial and blockchain education was therefore not a complete departure from his original profession. It was an expansion of it.

The subject changed – from chemistry and biology to decentralized networks and digital finance – but the responsibility remained similar: simplify complicated ideas without distorting them, and equip learners to think independently rather than repeat conclusions they cannot defend.

A Financial-Education Foundation for a Fast-Moving Industry

Mlelwa earned the Certified Financial Educator credential through the Bank of Tanzania Academy, adding a formal financial-education foundation to the practical knowledge he had developed through years of participation in the digital-asset sector.

For him, the qualification represented more than another professional title. It strengthened his ability to connect emerging digital finance with established principles such as financial planning, consumer awareness, risk management, ethical communication and responsible decision-making.

This combination is especially relevant in cryptocurrency, where technical innovation often develops faster than public understanding. Mlelwa argues that blockchain education should not be separated from financial education. Understanding wallets, networks and smart contracts is valuable, but incomplete without understanding volatility, liquidity, diversification, fraud risk, behavioural bias and capital preservation.

DienAcademy and the Pursuit of Informed Participation

Mlelwa founded DienAcademy as a digital entrepreneurship and technology education platform designed to make emerging technologies more understandable and practically useful. Through the academy, he has developed learning content, workshops, masterclasses and public discussions covering blockchain fundamentals, cryptocurrencies, digital assets, decentralized finance and the broader digital economy.

An important part of the academy’s work is accessibility. Highly technical financial and blockchain information is often published in language that excludes ordinary learners or assumes knowledge they do not yet have. By breaking complex topics into structured lessons – including education delivered in Kiswahili – DienAcademy aims to reduce the language and knowledge barriers that limit responsible participation in East Africa.

The academy’s educational direction is built around questions that are frequently ignored during periods of market optimism: What gives a digital asset value? What happens when liquidity disappears? How should an investor distinguish technical utility from promotional language? What responsibilities come with self-custody? How can beginners recognize artificial urgency, misleading returns and unsustainable structures?

“Responsible adoption does not mean convincing everyone to invest. It means ensuring that people can recognize both the potential and the danger before committing their money. Education should create independent decision-makers, not dependent followers.”

– Antony Mlelwa

Taking an African Perspective to International Platforms

Mlelwa’s participation at Crypto Expo Dubai 2025 brought his educational message into a wider international conversation. His contribution focused on the danger of hype, the cost of public misunderstanding and the need to discuss blockchain utility beyond short-term market excitement. He also participated in discussions involving decentralized finance and other developing applications of blockchain technology.

At the Corporate Blockchain Gala 2026 in Dar es Salaam, the conversation returned to the local realities of adoption. The gathering brought together professionals, entrepreneurs and blockchain stakeholders to examine the technology from a corporate, educational and long-term economic perspective. Mlelwa’s message remained consistent: research must come before commitment, and innovation should be assessed by what it solves rather than by how aggressively it is promoted.

His scheduled appearance at Crypto Expo Dubai 2026 reflects an expanding role within the international blockchain conversation. Yet Mlelwa maintains that global exposure only matters when knowledge is translated into local relevance. Models developed in the United Arab Emirates, Europe or the United States cannot simply be copied into African markets without considering income levels, infrastructure, regulation, consumer protection and access to trustworthy education.

Why Responsible Adoption Matters for Africa

Africa is regularly described as one of blockchain’s most promising regions. The continent has a young population, expanding mobile connectivity, active cross-border commerce and continuing demand for more accessible financial infrastructure. These conditions may create meaningful opportunities in payments, remittances, digital identity, tokenization, digital ownership and decentralized services.

But opportunity does not automatically produce positive outcomes. Where financial literacy is limited, the same technology can be used to distribute fraudulent schemes, unrealistic investment promises and products that consumers do not properly understand. The most vulnerable participants may carry the greatest losses while better-informed promoters exit first.

This is why Mlelwa rejects the assumption that questioning a cryptocurrency project represents opposition to innovation. Serious examination protects innovation. It helps distinguish durable systems from temporary narratives and useful participation from financial exploitation.

“Africa should not become only a market where blockchain products are sold. Africa must also become a continent of informed users, educators, developers, researchers, regulators and entrepreneurs who understand how these systems are built.”

– Antony Mlelwa

Challenging the Culture of Guaranteed Returns

One of the strongest themes in Mlelwa’s work is his rejection of guaranteed-profit narratives. Cryptocurrency markets are volatile. Even technologically credible assets can produce poor investment outcomes when purchased without a strategy, at an unsustainable valuation or with money that an individual cannot afford to lose.

A rising price does not automatically prove that a project is legitimate, while a falling price does not necessarily mean its underlying technology has failed. Mlelwa teaches learners to separate the quality of an asset from the quality of an investment decision.

An investor may identify a credible asset and still fail because of excessive concentration, emotional trading, borrowed capital, poor security practices, weak time horizons or an inability to follow a defined plan. This distinction matters in a market where promotional communication often concentrates on potential upside while treating risk as a brief disclaimer.

His message is deliberately demanding: participants must accept responsibility for understanding their decisions before blaming the market for outcomes they never prepared for.

Building a More Mature Blockchain Conversation

As blockchain moves toward institutional adoption, tokenization, regulated digital assets and closer integration with conventional financial systems, Mlelwa believes public education must mature with it. The next phase of adoption cannot be built exclusively around trading signals, referral campaigns and dramatic price predictions.

It will require stronger public understanding of governance, cybersecurity, custody, consumer protection, taxation, regulation, smart-contract risk and the economic consequences of programmable assets. It will also require educators who are willing to say when evidence is incomplete, when a claim is exaggerated and when an opportunity is unsuitable for a particular person.

Through DienAcademy, Mlelwa plans to continue developing educational programmes that connect traditional financial knowledge with blockchain technology and digital entrepreneurship. His long-term ambition is to contribute to an African digital economy in which participation is driven by understanding rather than pressure, and where innovation is judged by the quality of the problems it solves.

“Blockchain is not important because it can make prices rise. It is important because it changes how people can record ownership, transfer value, coordinate digitally and build trust. Our responsibility is to teach both what that transformation can achieve and where it can go wrong.”

– Antony Mlelwa

From a science classroom in Tanzania to international blockchain stages, Antony Mlelwa’s journey reflects a wider transition taking place across Africa. The continent is no longer simply observing the global digital-asset industry. Its educators, entrepreneurs, researchers and technology professionals are increasingly helping shape the conversation.

For Mlelwa, the most valuable contribution is not persuading the largest possible audience to enter the market. It is helping people develop the knowledge, discipline and critical thinking required to participate responsibly – or to decide, with equal confidence, not to participate at all.
