Bitcoin's price has experienced further weakening, reaching its lowest point since December 18 at $40,600, according to data. This recent dip has heightened market tension, as efforts by bulls to reclaim lost ground have consistently failed.
Michaël van de Poppe, the founder and CEO of MN Trading, offered his perspective on the situation, aligning with a prevailing view that anticipates a further drop in Bitcoin's value, potentially to the mid-$30,000 range. On X (formerly Twitter), he expressed his strategy of accumulating more Bitcoin in the price bracket of $36,000 to $40,000, indicating that the current price range remains stable for such accumulations. Another well-known trader and analyst, Rekt Capital, suggests that Bitcoin's current trend is a typical precursor to the block subsidy halving, expecting a price pullback within the next month leading up to the April event.
Meanwhile, the recent price decline has seen a significant increase in Bitcoin sales, with 59,000 Bitcoins re-entering circulation for the first time in three to six months. According to Ali, a social media commentator, these Bitcoins were originally purchased at an average of $26,000, resulting in an aggregate profit of nearly $900 million. In contrast to Bitcoin, the focus within the altcoin market is on the ETH/BTC pair, which has shown a significant increase in Ethereum's value against Bitcoin since last week.
Ethereum's price has risen sharply, surpassing 0.06 BTC before stabilizing around this level, its highest since April 2022. Caleb Franzen, a senior analyst at Cubic Analytics, noted in his analysis on X that this consolidation is taking place above a long-standing resistance trendline and the 200-day moving average. This trendline has acted as a resistance point since September 2022.
Franzen, who had previously analyzed other data, predicts that ETH/USD will continue to outperform BTC/USD in the future. This outlook suggests a more optimistic scenario for Ethereum compared to Bitcoin, as the cryptocurrency market continues to navigate through its complex and often unpredictable landscape.
