French data protection agency CNIL is expressing concerns about the legality of Worldcoin's data collection methods. In an email to Reuters on July 28, CNIL stated that the collection of data by Worldcoin appears questionable, and the conditions under which biometric data is stored are also raising doubts. In response to these concerns, CNIL has launched an investigation and is supporting the efforts of authorities in the German state of Bavaria, who are also looking into the matter.
Additionally, Worldcoin may face inquiries from the UK data watchdog following its launch. OpenAI, the company behind the popular AI chatbot ChatGPT, introduced Worldcoin on June 24. To participate in the program and obtain a digital ID and free passwords, users are required to provide iris scans.

WorldCoin Claimed On Twitter World ID every 7.6 seconds, and records are being broken daily. The company has also been sharing photos of its sphere in various cities worldwide, such as Seoul, Mexico City, and Paris.
However, the reception from the crypto community has been mixed. Some users have expressed concerns about the potential for failure due to centralization, while others argue that proof of personality is necessary as AI becomes more popular.
There have also been reports suggesting that Worldcoin has struggled to attract new registered users since its launch. According to these reports, three designated locations in Hong Kong received only about 200 registered users on the first day, out of a total of 60 0. However, Co-founder Sam Altman refused this claim, sharing a video of Japanese people waiting in line for iris scans to be completed on the following day.
