In light of the recent cybersecurity breach involving Kroll, FTX, the bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange, has taken the precaution of temporarily suspending affected users' access to its claims portal. This measure is intended to proactively prevent further damage in the aftermath of the breach and any potential future incidents. FTX made this announcement on X (formerly Twitter). Users are strongly advised not to alter their submitted statements or modify the accepted schedule for the event.
FTX clarified that all claim data previously submitted through the Kroll customer claims portal remains secure and valid. Kroll had been appointed as the claims and notification agent for FTX's ongoing bankruptcy proceedings. The breach exposed non-sensitive data associated with claimants who are part of the bankruptcy case. FTX emphasized that Kroll's breach had no impact on internal systems, account passwords, or the security of financial funds.
To address the situation, Kroll has been actively managing the breach and continuously monitoring its developments. While FTX customers are directly informed about necessary precautions for self-protection, it's worth noting that phishing emails have begun to target FTX customers, suggesting that their personal data might have been compromised due to the breach.
