Galxe, a Web3 credential project, has issued a warning to users not to engage with its platform due to a security breach on its website. This incident comes in the wake of suspicions that the same hackers who targeted the Balancer frontend are responsible.
Galxe disclosed the security breach on October 6 through its official X account and urged users to avoid visiting the compromised website until the issue is resolved. Prior to this warning, the project had already informed users of its website being down and advised against connecting their wallets. Those who were already connected were advised to disconnect immediately and abstain from signing any transactions.
While Galxe has not disclosed the extent of financial losses resulting from this breach, some users have already reported instances of funds being pilfered.
According to ZachXBT, an on-chain investigator, the hackers have initiated transfers of funds to an address, raising suspicions of a connection to the recent Balancer frontend attack. Balancer had cautioned users against interacting with its interface due to an ongoing attack, during which approximately $238,000 was stolen. The incident at Balancer was later attributed to a social engineering attack.
Galxe is a Web3 protocol primarily used for conducting interactive campaigns related to cryptocurrency giveaways and airdrops, providing credential services.
