Elon Musk's Twitter, now known as X, has expanded its team of contributors from 18 countries to ensure the accuracy of information shared on the platform. As a result, X's information watchdog, Community Notes, now has contributors from 44 countries. Musk's vision for the platform includes transforming it into an all-encompassing app that combats misinformation and prevents scam accounts from operating publicly. The rebranding to X was driven by the need to compete with aggressive Threads and TikTok clones in the text-based social media space.
Contributors from 44 countries are now responsible for vetting information shared on X's posts that gain significant attention and media coverage. The platform aims to position itself as a source of reliable news, entertainment, sports, politics, and more, rather than just a traditional social media platform. Musk emphasized the goal of becoming the best or least misleading source of truth on the internet, highlighting the importance of the fact-checking system, Community Notes.
As X continues its efforts to reinvent itself, it faces strong competition from Threads, which recently launched a new feature resembling the original Twitter. Threads has experienced a surge in new users, surpassing 100 million users in just five days since its launch on July 5 . This growth poses a challenge for X and its transformation into a more trustworthy and versatile platform.
