The Hellenic Stock Exchange has unveiled plans to explore the integration of a new tool called the Electronic Book Builder (EBB) within the Sui blockchain ecosystem. In a blog post dated March 6, Sui disclosed its collaboration with the Athens Exchange Group (ATHEX) and Mysten Labs, an original contributor to the Sui ecosystem, in developing the EBB.
ATHEX's EBB initiative is envisioned as a novel financing avenue facilitating the listing of transferable securities for both early-stage and established companies. These securities, if issued, will be hosted on the Sui blockchain and represented as digital certificates, ensuring robust security measures and transparent transfer processes, as outlined in the blog post. The utilization of blockchain technology for stock market functionalities represents a pioneering endeavor, with the EBB deployment on Sui slated to be among the earliest of its kind.
Operating as a blockchain-based "meta-layer," the EBB will be integrated atop ATHEX's existing trading order routing system. The tool's primary objective will be to enhance liquidity for companies seeking funding through business proposals, as detailed in the blog post. However, the collaboration between the involved parties remains in the evaluation phase, with the performance being a crucial factor in ATHEX's decision to adopt blockchain technology for its new venture.
The Sui Network, established as a first-layer blockchain ecosystem, debuted its mainnet in May 2023, prioritizing digital asset ownership and management. Following its mainnet launch, the network introduced the zkLogin feature, enabling streamlined user authentication for Sui-powered applications via platforms like Google, Facebook, and Twitch. This move aimed to simplify the user experience and enhance accessibility to Sui-powered services.
Recognized for its capacity to handle substantial transaction volumes while maintaining low fees, the Sui Network has garnered attention for its efficiency and scalability. In February 2024, the Sui Foundation initiated the Blockchain Academy in collaboration with the American University of Sharjah in the UAE, aiming to foster awareness among students regarding blockchain technology's potential applications and utility in developing platforms and applications. Greg Siourounis, Managing Director of the Sui Foundation, emphasized the educational initiative's role in providing individuals with the requisite knowledge and tools to harness blockchain technology effectively.
