Cryptocurrency exchange Kraken said it investigated issues with several crypto funding gateways, including major avenues such as Bitcoin, Ether and ERC-20, which caused operational delays.
On June 6, Kraken's status page stated, "Deposits and withdrawals are currently delayed. We will provide any updates as soon as possible." The first notification was posted around 7:44AM UTC when deposits and withdrawals were delayed. This was followed ed by two updates at 8:06AM UTC and 8:13AM UTC, saying it would continue to "work hard to resolve" the issue.
The status page doesn't say what's causing the problem. As of 8:35AM UTC, the status page was back to normal and all updates regarding delays and issues were removed. Kraken's futures platform is expected to be closed to users for approximately 10 minutes the s on June 6 at 10:30AM UTC. The exchange said the reason was website maintenance. Kraken is currently facing an IRS request to hand over customer information in what the exchange considers an “improper treasure hunt.”
The exchange asked a San Francisco court to intervene, claiming that the IRS's unreasonable demands "went too far." On April 18, Kraken was authorized to operate as a virtual asset service provider in Ireland. The authorization makes Kraken the third cryptocurrency exchange registered in Ireland, following Gemini and Coinbase.
Recently, Kraken Chief Security Officer Nick Percoco teamed up with a popular streamer to create a fake crypto account on the exchange and “bait” bad actors in its ecosystem.
