Morocco may introduce its first cryptocurrency bill "in the next few days." The document has been drafted by the central bank and will be discussed with industry stakeholders.
Late last month, at a press conference, Central Bank of Morocco Governor Al-Maghrib (BAM) Abdellatif Jouahiri announced a series of discussions between BAM and market participants. It will precede the implementation of encryption laws.
According to Jouahiri, BAM worked with the IMF and World Bank in developing the document. Earlier reports said Moroccan officials also contacted the central banks of France, Sweden, and Switzerland to study their regulatory experience with digital assets.
