A Bitcoin wallet that had been inactive for over nine years recently sent out 2,071.5 BTC (worth over $60 million).

The address received a total of 6,071.5 BTC in late 2013, when the price of the major cryptocurrency was hovering around $663. Lookonchain revealed that the mysterious whale transferred the assets on April 20 after the wallet had not been touched for 9 years and 4 months. 2,071.5 BTC were sent to addresses starting with "bc1q".

On December 19th (the day the wallet initially received the tokens), the entire 6,071.5 BTC was worth approximately $4 million. Those assets are currently worth about $176 million.

The reasoning behind the move is unclear. Still, some have speculated that cryptocurrency investors with large assets have begun moving old funds to new addresses as a protective measure.
