Starknet, an Ethereum layer 2 blockchain, is expanding eligibility for its initial round of Starknet tokens (STRK) to address concerns raised by certain user groups who encountered difficulties in claiming their tokens. The Starknet Foundation, responsible for overseeing the Starknet network, has responded to these concerns after conducting a thorough review of the situation.
In response to feedback and concerns, Starknet has extended eligibility for the first round of Starknet tokens to include two previously overlooked subcategories of users. These include eligible VeVe users, non-VeVe StarkEx users who were previously categorized as VeVe users, and collective stakers.
Following an assessment and rectification process, a new batch of users eligible for the February airdrop will now have the opportunity to claim their STRK tokens starting in April. Starknet attributes the confusion surrounding eligibility to discrepancies in the data provided by Immutable, particularly regarding self-hosted IMX addresses and users associated with the NFT platform VeVe.
To address the issue, Starknet has made adjustments to the data, ensuring accurate differentiation between VeVe users and Immutable X users. As a result, Immutable X users who conducted eight or more transactions before June 1, 2022, are now eligible to claim the airdrop. Starknet is actively engaged in discussions with the VeVe team to determine the best approach for providing airdrops to VeVe users.
However, challenges remain for centralized ETH stakers, as the existing staking protocol poses obstacles to airdropping STRK tokens to qualifying users. Starknet is exploring solutions to this issue and collaborating with various staking protocols to compile lists of eligible users who will be able to claim their airdrops starting in April.
