Japan's largest conglomerate, Toyota Motor Corporation will sponsor the world's first global Web3 hackathon. Astar Network, Polkadot’s leading parachain, has been invited to produce a Web3 use case for Toyota employees.
As part of the event, developers from all over the world were invited. The topic will be to build an in-company DAO enabled tool on the Astar network, enabling anyone to create teams, issue governance tokens and vote without them needing to understand the ins and outs of Web3.
While the multinational automaker could use the tools developed during the hackathon to improve operational transparency and efficiency. On the other hand, Astar Network will provide the necessary environment for developers and will be responsible for product development support.
Both Astar Network and Toyota said they believe they can manage the project like a DAO, with decision-making power distributed to participants. Following the announcement, Astar Network founder Sota Watanabe noted that blockchain integration in cars will happen in the near future. The executive also said that while the industry is still in an exploratory phase, he is "very excited about the possibilities."
