Untraceable Events is organizing the second annual ETHToronto Hackathon, scheduled to take place from August 13 to 16, 2023, as a part of the fifth annual Blockchain Futurists Conference in Toronto, Canada. This year introduces the launch of ETHWomen, a hackathon on and compete with a focus on women participants and inclusivity. Last year's ETHToronto hackathon saw the participation of 500 developers, and this year's event is expected to attract over 1,000 participants from around the world for both ETHToronto and ETHWomen.
The hackathon will be held in partnership with George Brown College and its blockchain development program. During the event, participants will form teams, attend workshops, and receive mentorship to develop innovative solutions in the field of blockchain technology. Exceptional te ams will also have the opportunity to present their work at the Blockchain Futurist Conference, which is Canada's largest blockchain event, boasting more than 8,000 attendees. This platform enables hackathon participants to showcase their projects, engage with potential employers, seek funding, and expand the ir professional networks. All hackathon participants will be granted free access to the Blockchain Futurist Conference sessions.
The inaugural ETHWomen, held in collaboration with CryptoChicks, focuses on providing a supportive environment for women and the LGBTQ2 community to demonstrate their skills, collaborate with like-minded individuals, and devise creative solutions for real-world challenges. Elena Sinelnikova, CEO of MetisDAO and Co-Founder of CryptoChicks, highlighted the importance of diversity and inclusion in driving innovation in the blockchain industry, emphasizing that supporting and empowering women in blockchain will contribute to a more diverse and vibrant community that tackles complex issues.
Tracy Leparulo, the founder of Untraceable Events and organizer of the hackathon, has a history of organizing impactful blockchain events, including the original Ethereum Hackathon in 2014, the BlockGeeks Hackathon in 2016, and the first ETHWaterloo in 2017. Reflecting on the significance of Toronto as the birthplace of Ethereum, Leparulo believes that the city has evolved into a thriving hub for decentralized technology. She emphasizes that the event's aim is to drive innovation and contribute to the advancement of the broader blockchain ecosystem. The launch of ETHWomen is se en as a vital movement to empower women within the Web3 space, inspiring the next generation of female leaders in the blockchain industry.
