Investment manager VanEck has initiated a marketing campaign for its upcoming Ethereum coin futures exchange-traded fund (ETF). Analysts speculate that this ETF could launch as early as October 2.
On September 28, VanEck unveiled two TV ads under the theme "Entering Ethereum," signaling the imminent arrival of its Ethereum Strategy ETF (ticker EFUT). This announcement coincided with a press statement in which VanEck revealed that EFUT would be listed on the Chicago Board Options Exchange and managed by Greg Krenzer, VanEck's head of active trading.
Bloomberg ETF analysts Eric Balchunas and James Seyffart believe that the TV ads suggest the Ethereum futures ETF could launch sooner than expected. Seyffart expects the new ETF to be launched on Monday, although a September 29 filing stated that the ETF wouldn't go live for another 60 days. He commented, "Our understanding is that the SEC is expediting approval of these things."
VanEck's initial "Into the Ether" ad was a short and quirky 15-second video featuring five actors gazing into the camera with strange alien music in the background. One actor stated, "Ethereum. Now in ETF form. Coming soon," and another quipped, "Oh, and hodl or fork off," before the ad concluded with the message "Enter the Aether."
The second ad was more direct, running for 30 seconds and suggesting that Ethereum was about to undergo a "shift" that would attract everyone.
Balchunas anticipates fierce marketing competition among ETF issuers once spot Bitcoin ETFs are approved. He stated, "It's going to be a marketing battle like we've never seen before because they're all doing the same thing and launching it on the same day. Unprecedented."
Furthermore, financial services firm Valkyrie has announced plans to offer exposure to Ethereum through its existing Bitcoin Strategy ETF, making it the first of several pending filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission to do so.
Seyffart noted on September 28 that fifteen Ethereum futures ETFs from nine issuers are competing to launch.
