The notice of appearance on behalf of amicus curiae Naomi Brockwell was formally filed by Deaton with the US Court of Appeals for the First Circuit on September 14, 2023. Amicus curiae, which translates to "friend of the court" in Latin, are individuals or entities who offer their expertise or opinions to assist the court in making informed decisions.
