KILT is a decentralized blockchain protocol for issuing verifiable, revocable and anonymous credentials and Decentralized Identifiers (DIDs) for Web3. It updates the established trust process for real-world credentials, such as passports and college diplomas, to bring trust to the digital world by allowing self-sovereign online identities without centralized data silos. This is not limited to human identities; developers can use KILT to create identifiers and credentials for machines, services, and anything that requires an identity. Like Kusama and Polkadot, KILT is built on Substrate, the modular blockchain building framework, which launched in September 2021 as a parachain for the Kusama network.
