An easy way to differentiate your Discord server from other communities is to let your users make and send custom server emojis. So today we will show you how to make Discord Emotes. Let’s find out by looking at the tutorial.
Who can add custom emoji?
One of the main ways Discord allows server administrators to customize and control their servers is by setting roles for their members. Discord limits the total number of roles to 250, far more than most servers need, and each role has different privileges, freedoms, and responsibilities.
One of the many perks that can be enabled for any character is emoji management. If you're a server admin, you can go to the "Roles" section of your server settings, select a server role, and scroll down to find the "Manage emoji" switch. For any role, the emoji management permission can be enabled, so members of that role can access the emoji manager through their server settings tab.
How to make Discord Emotes?
You can use any image you want as a custom Discord emoji. Use photos you've taken, images from Google Image Search, transparent PNG images or even animated GIFs. You can even upload a short video and convert it to a GIF using the drop-down menu in the "Export" button.
To convert an image or GIF into a Discord emoji, I recommend using the Kapwing Discord Emoji Template, which automatically resizes any image or GIF you upload to a 128x128 pixel square format. Click "Edit this template" from the template landing page to make sure your output PNG complies with Discord's specifications.
Size: Discord emoji are very small. When you upload the file, it is resized to 32x32 pixels. The maximum aspect ratio is 128x128 pixels, so please resize the image before uploading to Discord. Another technical requirement is that the emoji file size cannot exceed 256KB.
I hope this tutorial will help you to learn how to make Discord Emotes. Part of what makes Discord a great place for communities to thrive is the extent of control that community leaders can have over their servers. So many aspects of a Discord server can be modified and customized that individual servers start to feel more like forum sites of yesteryear, all gathered in one place.
