Some of the features you've come to expect from a bank are available on the cryptocurrency trading platform BlockFi, including the ability to borrow money, accrue interest on your balances, and receive points on credit card transactions. So, how often does blockfi pay interest? Let's see.
How often does blockfi pay interest?
With BlockFi, your cryptocurrency balances earn interest. Daily interest is accumulated, and payments are made on the final business day of every month. The cryptocurrency interest should post to your account soon, and you'll get an email when your statement is available. You must log into your account in order to view or download your statement. as follows:
- Login to your BlockFi Account
- Click on your name in the top right of the screen
-Select 'Reports'
- Under Earnings, set the year and select 'Download [Month] Statement'
- If you withdrew some assets during the month, don't worry! You will still receive a prorated crypto interest payment for the number of days that the balance was held in your account.
Note: Your estimated crypto interest accrued resets on the 1st of each month because it is a new earning month.
The daily interest accrued is determined by the type of crypto asset and how much you have of it. Tiered interest means that greater balances earn less than lower ones do. For instance, if you deposited three bitcoins, the first bitcoin would earn a 6.00% APY while the other two would earn a 2.00% APY.
The type of cryptocurrency you have, how much of it you have, and how many days will determine your interest if you trade or exchange digital assets throughout the month. Say, for instance, that on May 1 you deposit bitcoin and on May 15 you convert it to ether. You will receive 14 days of bitcoin interest and 16 days of ether interest at the end of the month.
It should be noted that BlockFi operates similarly to a bank and the reason they pay you interest is because they are lending your assets to institutions and corporations. As the lender, BlockFi generates income by charging interest on those loaned funds. The cryptocurrency in your account is actually replaced with an obligation to return the asset upon your request.
