Solana is arguably one of the most important ecosystems in the digital space. So today we will talk about whether Solana has a name service or not and how to buy a Solana Domain name. Let’s find out by reading the article below.

Does Solana have a name service?

The answer is “YES”. The Solana Naming Service ("SNS") is a convenience Solana program that allows users to create a human-readable domain name that can be used in place of a public key. SNS grants a user a ".sol" domain name (for example, ExampleUser.sol) through the user's program-derived account.

How To Buy Solana Domain Name?

1. Before buying your .sol domain name, you need a proper wallet.

2. Purchasing SOL is the next step. This step is for those who do not have Solana in their wallets. If you do, you can proceed to the next step. You can choose to buy your assets from any exchange of your choice. You also need to copy your address correctly to ensure the coins go to your wallet. If something goes wrong, you run the risk of losing your assets forever. Buying $30 worth of Solana should be enough to buy your domain, assuming no one bids on you.

3. The next step is to connect your wallet to Bonfida and choose your preferred domain name. Connecting your wallet may require you to rewrite your password. After that, you can continue the process. In this section, you can choose your own name. However, you may need to choose a different name if someone else has already purchased it. Likewise, your preferred domain name may be up for auction. Here, the name has not been given, whether the network will give the highest bidder.

4. To get your domain name, you need to bid the highest price. You may also compete with other bidders interested in getting the name. The last option is when your name is available and not auctioned off. Before the platform sells the names, they hold a three-day auction. During this time, others may bid and get them, if they are the highest bidder. On the other hand, if no one bids, you will get your domain name and the transaction will be recorded on the blockchain.

5. Swapping your Solana for $FIDA and bidding is the following process. It is safe to say that $FIDA is the token of the platform and is required for bidding. You can exchange Solana for FIDA simply by connecting Solana to an exchange and then exchanging. Now you need to bid. Bidding requires you to spend some FIDA dollars. As the platform will not notify you of new bidders, you may want to check for yourself. You can claim your domain name after a specified number of days if there is no higher bid than yours. Claiming means you become the owner of the domain, which will be shown on the blockchain.

I hope this article will help you to learn whether Solana has a name service or not and how to buy a Solana Domain name. The digital asset space is always open to new ideas and inventions. Creating your domain name will also help you link your wallet address, helping you reduce problems associated with duplicating it for transfers.
