Last year, Sony made a minority investment in Discord and announced a partnership. Today we will show you how to use discord on PS4. Let's find out by reading the article below.

How to use discord on PS4?

Being able to use Discord on the PlayStation 4 makes sense, since it was originally a platform for gamers. While gamers remain the main target group still using the platform, other demographics are now starting to use it as well.

PlayStation has its own Discord-like platform called Party Chat, but it lacks some key features that have made Discord so beloved by many. So, if you want to install Discord on your PS4, here's how to do it.

1. Simple text chat function

Turn on your PS4 and navigate to its web browser function. Visit the Discord website and log into your Discord account via PlayStation. You should now be able to chat with people using the text box. However, if you also want to voice chat with people on the server, go to the next step.

2. Connect audio to Discord on PS4

This is where setup gets a little tricky. You will need some external hardware for this step, such as a MixAmp and a ground loop noise isolator. Here are the steps you need to follow to connect your audio to a Discord server on PS4. Open MixAmp in console mode. Connect the ground loop noise isolator to the auxiliary port on the device and plug the auxiliary cable into it.

Now connect the USB cable to the PlayStation 4. Take a moment to connect your headphones to the MixAmp with the 3.5mm cable. If you haven't already turned on your PS4, open your device's settings. Navigate to Devices, then Audio Devices.

Find your headset under Input Devices and select it. Now select TV or AV Amplifier under Output Device. Go back to Settings and find Sound and Screen. Select Audio Output Settings and set your main output to Digital Out (Optical). Now you can voice stream via Discord on PS4 while playing games.

3. Dual Audio Setup

Now you know how to set up audio for Discord from your game console. However, this can be a bit annoying as it only allows you to hear your voice stream.

If you want to listen to the audio stream and your game at the same time, you need to set up MixAmp to your computer for a dual audio system. Here's how to do it. Connect the MixAmp to the computer using USB, and set the MixAmp to computer mode.

Connect the MixAmp to your computer's speakers using a 3.5mm male-to-male cable. Go to Discord and open your user settings using the gear widget in the bottom left corner of the screen.

Find Settings, then Voice & Video, and select your MixAmp as the input device. Select the output device as your PC speakers. You can now use the audio wheel on your MixAmp to change the audio level between your game and your voice stream via Discord.

I hope this article will help you to learn how to use discord on PS4. There will be an easier way to do this soon, as Discord is primarily for gamers to communicate while playing games together.
