Elon Musk revealed he owns three cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin. So, here's the question, how much bitcoin does Elon Musk own? Let's see.

Musk's relationship with Bitcoin has generally been a bit complicated.

How Much Bitcoin Does Elon Musk Own?

Elon Musk has not made his bitcoin holdings publicly known. However, his electronic vehicle company, Tesla, has ties to Bitcoin. Let's investigate it.

Bitcoin and Tesla

Musk revealed that Tesla had purchased $1.5 billion worth of Bitcoin in February 2021. The business also declared that it would start taking Bitcoin as a form of payment. As a result of the news, Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies have grown more in value.

Elon Musk said in March that Tesla would accept Bitcoin as a form of payment. Bitcoin's all-time high was $64,863.10 in April.

Later in May, Musk shocked Bitcoin enthusiasts when he recoiled on his decision to accept Bitcoin as a payment method for Tesla due to environmental concerns His announcement, coupled with other factors, led to a decline in Bitcoin's price.

When Did Tesla Buy Bitcoin?

Tesla made its first Bitcoin purchase on February 8, 2021.

Tesla also announced that "subject to applicable laws and initially on a limited basis," it will begin accepting bitcoin payments in exchange for its goods. If this happens, Tesla will be the first major automaker to do so. Once Tesla begins taking bitcoin as payment, the $1.5 billion worth of bitcoin will provide it access to the cryptocurrency's liquidity.

Misunderstandings on Twitter

A few days later, a misunderstanding caused by a Twitter conversation caused the price of Bitcoin to drop even more. Given the fall in price, a person tweeted that they wouldn't blame Musk for selling his Bitcoin. Investors assumed that Musk intended to sell his Bitcoin after he answered "Indeed" to this tweet.

However, the next day, the billionaire reassured the investors that Tesla was not planning to sell its Bitcoin. But, however, Tesla sold 75% of its Bitcoin holding.
