Cybercriminals use sophisticated tools and techniques to hack crypto exchanges and wallets. You don't want to be hack by them? Don't worry, now we will let you know how to protect crypto wallet from being hacked. Let's find out.

What Is a Crypto Wallet?

A cryptocurrency wallet, or crypto wallet, is a software product or a physical device that stores the public and private keys to your cryptocurrency accounts.

How to protect crypto wallet from being hacked?

Here are 7 tips on how you can protect your crypto wallets and reduce the chances of getting hacked:

1. USE A COLD WALLET

Unlike hot wallets, cold wallets require some technical knowledge to set up and are considered more secure. However, if you lose your offline wallet, there is no "forgot password" option to recover it.

A good example of it is Ledger, a developer of hardware wallets with the highest possible security. Your private cryptocurrency keys are stored under multiple layers of security on a USB stick with high-security measures.

2. Use two-factor authentication (2FA).

2FA provides an extra layer of security for your account. When someone tries to sign in, they receive a message or email with a verification code. This extra step makes it harder for hackers to access your account. They need this verification code and will call you to ask for it and try to convince you to provide it.

Keep in mind that never share your 2FA code, one-time password (OTP), or other secret verification code with anyone. No one on the crypto exchange will ever call you asking for your credentials.

3. Keep your seed phrase in a safe place

The seed phrases must be entered in exactly the same order as specified during signup. Unfortunately, there is no reliable "forgot password" option. Therefore, losing your seed phrase always means losing access to your wallet. Keep this seed phrase in a safe place offline. Just write it down on a piece of paper and save it in a secure place.

4. Store your investments in multiple wallets

Instead of putting all your NFTs and cryptocurrencies in one wallet, split them into at least two. Use the "hot" wallet for everyday transactions and the "cold" wallet for HODLing.

5. Use a secure internet connection

Public WiFi is not secure and should never be an option when conducting online transactions from a bank account or cryptocurrency wallet. Always use a trusted VPN when connecting to public networks.

6. Always verify the recipient's wallet address

Always verify the recipient ID before sending cryptocurrency to another wallet. Malicious software can edit and insert the hacker's fake wallet address. Once a transaction is made, it cannot be reversed on the blockchain network.

7. Use an updated antivirus program

Many antivirus programs offer amazing protection against crypto-hacking and phishing attempts. These programs scan all incoming emails and flag potential phishing attacks to protect your wallet. Always purchase a licensed version of your antivirus software and keep it updated with the latest databases.

Now I hope you know how to protect crypto wallet, and wish you Good Luck!
