With so much Shiba Inu news going on, it's hard to track what’s happening on the Shiba Inu roadmap.
SHIB now has an active community of around 1.2 million SHIB holders, all pushing for new projects, updates, and more.
WhETHer it’s an update to Shibarium, the latest SHIB burn statistics, or simply the current Shiba Inu price, we’ve got you covered with the latest Shiba Inu news today.
Latest Shiba Inu news
The latest Shiba Inu news today sees the Shiba Inu Discord server preparing for more SHIB metaverse announcements.
The server added over 10 new additional channels, each devoted to locations on the metaverse map. The channels cannot yet be accessed, and no messages have been posted yet.
These locations include Ryoshi Plaza, Wagmi Temple, FUD Ground, and Bark Park.
Alongside this, SHIB holders are following the journey of SHIB developer William Volk, who announced he would be at Gamescom with Shiba Eternity,
Previously, the Shiba Inu developer had to increase the Shiba Eternity server capacity by 50x to keep up with demand.
As announced by developer Volk, the Shiba Inu test - currently only available in Vietnam - has seen an overwhelming number of players attempting to gain access.
However, this may be spurred on by players outside of Vietnam creating alternate accounts to download the game.
Alongside this, it seems SHIB is planning for a Shiba Eternity Download Day, where it hopes to push holders into downloading Shiba Eternity. Shytoshi Kusama even said he hopes that the game can break 1 million downloads in the future.
Shytoshi also said he wants to see Shiba Eternity tournaments.
It appears that holders are responding well to the latest SHIB announcements, such as Shiba Eternity, which launched as a test in Vietnam last week.
As the test went live, players started sharing gameplay from Shiba Eternity, alongside details about the bosses, monetisation, new cards, and actual, concrete gameplay. We've broken down the Shiba Eternity bosses, too.
Elsewhere, more Shiba Inu news concerns the upcoming Shibarium public beta. Based on several posts made by Shibarium developer Unification, SHIB holders deduced that the Layer-2 TestNet could launch between August 15-21. However, this period has been and gone, without a Shibarium launch.
Earlier in August, the major Shiba Inu news saw the Binance Card add Shiba Inu support.
The Binance Card, which lets users spend cryptocurrency with 60 million merchants, is available in the European Economic Area. It supports a multitude of cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Cardano, and ethereum.
Elsewhere, Shytoshi may have dropped a huge hint about the Shiba Inu metaverse. Based on several factors and Discord messages, it may be that the metaverse will run on Unreal Engine 5.
Shiba Inu updates
Alongside the latest Shiba Inu news, there are countless projects on-the-go within the Shiba Inu ecosystem. Here’s the latest on a handful of these.
Shiba Inu Game
Developed by PlaySide Studios in collaboration with SHIB, the upcoming Shiba Inu Game isn’t too far off, also known as Shiba Eternity. The game remains on track to launch in September 2022, according to Shytoshi Kusama.
As we mention above, we're now starting to see further gameplay of Shiba Eternity, while Shytoshi has revealed several cards for the game.
The official SHIB Discord now has a channel dedicated to Shiba Eternity, with future announcements expected to come pretty soon as development nears the end.
Shibarium
This Layer-2 solution is the SHIB community’s most anticipated project, and much like the game, it is coming pretty soon.
The Shibarium Public Beta is expected to launch in Q3 2022, meaning before the end of September, ahead of a full release perhaps in late-2022.
Elsewhere, SHIB holders are planning and preparing to build their own projects on top of Shibarium, including NFT marketplaces. The proposed Shibarium Hackathon could even help fund such projects.
Shiba Inu Metaverse
After the SHIB Metaverse Land Sale first launched, it appears the metaverse has shifted into its next phase of development. Shiba Inu has announced several new hires set to work on its metaverse. These include prominent tech and entertainment veterans coming onboard as developers or advisors.
The most recent of these saw SHIB bring onboard The Third Floor - a visualisation studio that has worked on Marvel and Star Wars films in the past.
Meanwhile, the land sale is still ongoing, and is nearing 20,000 plots of land sold.
New Shiba Inu tokens
The Shiba Inu ecosystem currently comprises SHIB, BONE and LEASH, alongside Shiboshis and the Metaverse land. However, it is set to expand with two new tokens.
The SHI stablecoin is among these new tokens. Originally intended to be an algo-stablecoin (although the Luna crypto crash may have impacted this design), it could be tied to 1 cent, using LEASH as a peg.
We don’t know much else about SHI, although it is still set to launch in 2022.
Outside of SHI, another token known as TREAT will also release to replace BONE as a ShibaSwap reward. Since it was only just announced, we know even less about TREAT.
Shiba Inu price
As of August 23, the current Shiba Inu price is $0.00001313, with a market cap of $7.7 billion. This makes it the 12th largest cryptocurrency, just behind Polkadot and Dogecoin.
According to CoinGecko, it is up 0.9 in 24 hours. SHIB is down 14% in 7 days, and up 13% in the last month.
It remains down 85% from its all-time high of $0.00008616, reached on October 28, 2021.
Shiba Inu burns
At the time of publication, a total of 410,377,819,921,131 SHIB has been burned. While most of this came from Vitalik Buterin’s massive burn, the SHIB community destroyed 70 billion tokens in the first six months of 2022.
Of this SHIB burned, the Shiba Inu burn portal has destroyed over 60 billion SHIB since it first launched in April.
This next phase for SHIB burning should see community and official burns go hand-in-hand, as projects such as Shibarium and the metaverse promise some sort of burning mechanics. Meanwhile, community games, NFTs, products and more will all continue their burns.
In July 2022, 4,762,745,494 SHIB was sent to the dead wallets, around 200 million SHIB more than in June.
So far, in August 2022, a total of 1,921,266,271 SHIB has been burned so far. At this current burn rate, it could hit 2.7 billion SHIB burned in August - a sharp decline from the last few months.
