Solana Vs Ethereum: Why You Might Choose an Ethereum Competitor "Solana"? The short answer is, Ethereum is more popular, but Solana has faster speeds and lower transaction costs. Let's dig in further in this article.

Solana Vs Ethereum: Why You Might Choose an Ethereum Competitor

Innovative Technology And Faster Transaction Speeds

Solana's blockchain network runs on an innovative consensus mechanism that Solana created called proof-of-history, or PoH. Time stamps are added to the blockchain during proof-of-stake block processing, which speeds up network functions. Solana has one of the fastest blockchain networks thanks to its PoH algorithm. Compared to Ethereum's 15 transactions per second, its network can perform around 3,400 transactions per second.

Lower Fees

Due to its limited capacity for processing transactions, Ethereum, the second most widely used cryptocurrency, faces competition from other cryptocurrencies. The system becomes crowded and transaction times and fees increase if a large number of users attempt to complete a transaction. price per transaction is a little less than $1, but historically it has been as high as $70.

Solana doesn't have the same scalability issues thanks to its PoH protocol. Users of Solana often pay a small fraction of a penny for each transaction because they aren't competing for block space to process transactions.

Cheaper Prices

Ethereum is significantly more expensive than Solana from an investment point of view because it is more widely used. The price of one Ether (ETH) coin is approximately $1,200 as of December 2022. Solana is the cheaper, albeit less popular, option; (SOL) coin can be purchased for about $12. For some investors, Ethereum's higher price point can be a barrier. Because Solana was created to compete with Ethereum, these blockchains are quite similar to one another. Solana offers a less expensive option for those that believe in both initiatives but don't have $1,200 to invest.
