We often hear about cryptocurrencies that have hit incredible values, but plenty of digital assets perform the opposite way. So, we looked at the worst cryptocurrency in 2022, in this article.
The Worst Cryptocurrency In 2022
Terra (LUNA)
One of the worst failures in the history of the cryptocurrency market was the collapse of Terra's algorithmic stablecoin TerraUSD (UST). This debacle caused Terra LUNA prices to crash by 99.99% in May 2022.
Do Kwon, the founder of Terra, suggested a fork to restart the project after it failed. The Terra chain eventually split, with the new chain being referred to as Terra 2.0 and the old chain being called Terra Classic.
FTT Token
The native token of the FTX crypto exchange, FTT tokens, had a drop after the exchange failed to owe to a liquidity issue. Prices fell precious, from $40 to $0.8.
The token is still traded on a number of exchanges, however, there is little volume and liquidity. It is essentially "dead" as a result of FTX's failure.
Solana (SOL)
In the year 2022, Solana suffered greatly as a torrent of negative news shook investor confidence. This includes the six network failures this year, the $200 million wallet hack at Solana, and the connection between Solana and FTX.
Allegations that Solana is not as decentralized as it claims led to more bad press, which made SOL one of the worst performers in 2022.
Infinity Axie (AXS)
Axie Infinity (AXS) is primarily used as the governance token for Axie Infinity, a P2E gaming ecosystem. Additionally, it functions as currency in the Axie Infinity marketplace where users can purchase non-fungible in-game tokens (NFT).
Due to poor player engagement (which lowers token demand), a $650 million hack targeting Axie Infinity's blockchain Ronin in late March, and worries over the unlocking of 8% of supply in October, AXS values fell sharply.
The Sandbox (SAND)
The number of players in this virtual P2E gaming ecosystem has been limited, despite its initial success and popularity. According to a cryptocurrency marketplace tracker, the Sandbox and Decentraland have less than 1,000 daily active users.
The decreased turnout has adversely affected demand for SAND across all spot markets, leading to a sharp decline in its price. The general lack of demand for riskier assets in an environment of rising interest rates is another factor contributing to the interest rate fall.
Hopefully, this article can help you to get some knowledge of the worst cryptocurrency in 2022.
