What's the difference between TRC20-USDT and ERC20-USDT? TRC20-USDT refers to USDT issued on the TRON network, ERC20-USDT refers to USDT issued by Tether on the Ethereum network. Let's explore more in this article.

USDT ERC-20 Vs. USDT TRC-20: Key Features to Know

The Ethereum blockchain's ERC-20 USDT tokens were released in February 2018 to enable the usage of Tether in the network's decentralized applications and smart contracts. Due to the slowness of transactions on the Bitcoin network, this step reduced transaction lock times. However, Ethereum is famous for the high cost of gas for commissions.

As a result, the Tron blockchain network started issuing USDT tokens based on the TRC-20 standard in April 2019, which sparked the growth of the entire Tron ecosystem. The main difference in this network is unquestionably the low commissions.

USDT ERC-20 vs. USDT TRC-20 Differences

In every single one of these networks, Tether stablecoin is the same. The differences are in issuance protocols, transaction time, and fees charged by these networks. The Tron blockchain network offers the lowest transaction fees. Make sure you choose the appropriate network and properly provide the destination address when transferring funds.

Despite the fact that it is still the same Tether stablecoin, there is a great chance of losing money if this is not done. Stablecoin accounts can be easily recognized by an address format. Notably, the USDT address on the Tron network (TRC-20 ) begins with the letter "Tx." The USDT address on the Ethereum (ERC-20) network, meanwhile, starts with the letter "0x."

Hopefully, reading this article, "USDT ERC-20 Vs. USDT TRC-20: What's the difference between TRC20 and ERC20?" can help you to understand it better.
