If you run a Discord server, you have a variety of options for providing neat functionality to your members. So today we will show you how to add Bots to discord. If you want to know that, take a look at the tutorial.
What Are Discord Bots?
Robots are simply computer programs that interact with humans (and sometimes other robots) to automate certain functions. A website with a helpful chat window that opens up instantly, proactively discussing their product or service with you; that's a bot. If you use Reddit, you see bot interactions (beep! beep!) all the time.
Bots can be useful or irritating, depending on their purpose, design, and deployment. On Discord, bots provide all kinds of efficient and inefficient functions to the community on the servers they "live". You can add bots to your Discord server to help you manage members or to make your server more unique and interesting.
How to add Bots to discord?
Adding a bot to your Discord server for the first time can be a lengthy process. Once you get the hang of it, it's actually quite simple.
Step 1 - Turn on administrator privileges
To add a bot to your Discord server, you must be an administrator of that server. If you don't own the server, it might be a good idea to check with the owner before adding anything to it.
- On your Discord homepage, select the server you want to add the bot to (on the left side of the Discord site).
- Once selected, select the dropdown menu (the server name in the upper left corner of the screen with a small down arrow next to it).
- Tap Server Settings.
- Tap Roles.
- Click on Default Permissions.
- Scroll down to the Advanced Permissions setting and toggle Administrator on.
- Click Save Changes.
Step 2 - Get the bot you want
It's important to note that depending on your bot's source site, you may see an invite or add a bot. For this example, we'll be using a Dyno, but the instructions may vary if you're adding another robot. Remember that you will need to perform these steps for each server you own or manage.
Here's how to add a bot to your Discord server:
- Visit the website of the bot you want to add. Then, click on the option to log in.
- Log in with your Discord credentials. Then, select the server you want to use the bot on and click Continue.
- Make the selections appropriate for your server and click Authorize.
- Complete the setup process.
I hope this tutorial will help you to learn how to add Bots to discord. If you're more stubborn and want to add bots without worrying about a pretty interface, you can just add them too. You'll need to know the bot's client ID, and you'll need to be logged into your Discord server. This is the method most GitHub bots without a web interface need to use.
