If you've been following our Discord tutorial series, you might be wondering How to make an announcement channel on Discord. So today we will talk about Discord announcement channel.
How to make an announcement channel on Discord?
Enable communities in your settings
Before creating an announcement channel, you need to enable Community for Discord. A community doesn't mean that your server will get more exposure or attract more members, it just means that you will be able to share posts from other servers on your server and vice versa.
Complete security check
You need to verify your email with Discord and enable "Scan all members' media content". This ensures that no one will post anything explicit on your server.
Specify the desired channel
To set up your channel for the community, you'll need a designated rules channel and a dedicated channel for admins and mods to receive updates from Discord. If you haven't created these channels yet, there will be an option to have Discord create them for you.
Confirm the final recommendation and click Finish Setup
Discord gives you the option to default notifications to mentions only, which is useful for limiting the number of pings you receive. Discord also recommends removing moderation permissions for users in the "@everyone" role. The "@everyone" role is for normal users below "Admin" and "Mod". It's a good idea to check to make sure only higher level users can make changes in your server.
