This article will walk you through, "What is a Bitcoin Spot ETF? Are They Better Than Futures?" Let's get started.

What is a Bitcoin Spot ETF?

While a spot Bitcoin ETF offers the same simplified investment options as a Bitcoin futures ETF, it only enables users to invest at the current price of Bitcoin, not at a future value.

A spot Bitcoin ETF offers all the advantages of a futures ETF, including the ability to invest in Bitcoin directly, pay lower prices than on a cryptocurrency exchange, and simplify the process in general. But a spot ETF invests in Bitcoin on the spot.

That's right, a spot ETF invests in Bitcoin at its current market price, allowing investors to hold the cryptocurrency within the fund just like they would a stock. Because a spot ETF entails owning Bitcoin, enthusiasts consider it to be a more respectable investing strategy

However, because of the industry's immaturity, there isn't actually a Bitcoin spot ETF as of yet. Since they believe that markets will start to take Bitcoin seriously once a spot ETF is launched, crypto industry experts frequently argue for a firm to launch a Bitcoin spot ETF.

Are They Better Than Futures?

Both Bitcoin spot ETFs and Bitcoin futures ETFs have advantages and disadvantages.

Although spot Bitcoin ETFs, which actually buy Bitcoin, are more "legitimate" than Bitcoin futures ETFs, it's difficult to say which is better.

In spite of the fact that a Bitcoin futures ETF does not need investing at the current price of Bitcoin, it streamlines the purchasing process and enables investors to bet on the market whether they choose to go long or short. In a similar line, many Bitcoin Futures ETFs charge annual fees and some have trouble effectively tracking the price of Bitcoin. On the other hand, from its start, BITO has exactly tracked the price of Bitcoin futures.

In contrast, many Bitcoin enthusiasts believe that a Bitcoin spot ETF will give the asset "legitimacy" because it will enable investors to buy Bitcoin at its current price without actually owning it.
