RATO (Rato the Rat) is the latest meme coin sensation to hit the Ethereum blockchain. Inspired by a character from Matt Furie, the creator of Pepe the Frog, RATO has captured trader attention with its surging market cap, zero tax policy, and decentralized structure.

What is RATO and who's behind it?

RATO is a meme coin paying homage to a new character being developed by Furie. With 420.69 billion tokens and zero transaction tax, RATO is designed for community-driven engagement. Its liquidity has been permanently burned, and no centralized entity holds majority control—mirroring the early days of PEPE.

Why is RATO making headlines now?

Since early May 2025. RATO has seen explosive growth. Its market cap surged to $22–30 million, while trading volume spiked to $25.7 million in just one day. One trader reportedly turned 0.092 ETH into 56 ETH—a gain that's fueled the hype. The coin also hit an all-time high of $0.0000836.

What makes RATO attractive to traders?

Its decentralized appeal, lack of whales, and connection to an iconic meme creator make RATO compelling for short-term gains. The LBank listing added legitimacy, and the project's alignment with meme coin culture has generated bullish sentiment.

What are the risks?

RATO is highly volatile, and its price swings have been extreme. With no inherent utility beyond community hype, its value could crash as quickly as it rose. Like most meme coins, RATO lacks long-term sustainability metrics.

Conclusion:

If you're chasing meme coin momentum, RATO might offer excitement. But its high volatility and speculative nature mean traders should tread carefully. It's a meme—not a mission.
