If you have taken so much as a cursory glance at Crypto Twitter, you may have noticed the phenomenon of the “Wassie.” What is "Wassie"?. When did it start?
What is Wassie
The Wassie, a beloved fictional character among cryptocurrency traders, generally appears as a pepe-like frog wearing a red baseball cap. He is extremely destructible and violently dies every two weeks before rising like a phoenix with the memory of his predecessor still intact. It is said that an endless supply of wassies is maintained on ice and defrosted in a microwave when the current one is finished.
Sometime in early 2017, The Wassie initially appeared on Crypto Twitter. The discovery of a work of art by the Japanese artist Tsukino Wagamo (tukinowagamo [NSFW]) is attributed to Twitter user Maru (wasserpest), whose handle wasserpest translates to "waterweed" in German, who gave the work the name "wassie."
