On Dec. 28, NFT artist Lucrece reported that he was in talks with Tezos co-founder Arthur Breitman, seeking to explain why United’s new NFT series uses a design and style similar to his own.
United first partnered with the Tezos Foundation earlier this year with “The Devils,” which launched on Dec. 21. Since then, the collection of 7,777 NFTs, priced at about $36 each, has sold out. United recently launched a Tezos-based NFT series, The Devils.

Lucréce wants to seal a deal with the Red Devils. This benefits both parties, as their artwork is so similar that some community users have wondered if the artist was involved in the creation of the United project. While the artist was careful not to directly accuse United of plagiarizing his work, he tweeted an image comparing the two so readers could draw their own conclusions.

The terms and conditions of the United collection state that the NFT was created by TRILITECH PLATFORM OÜ, "a for-profit body of the Tezos Foundation". As such, they have been empowered by the Tezos Foundation to mint and sell digital collectibles of English football teams.
The Devils collection launched by Manchester United is the team's second digital collectible. Each token has a unique set of features and entitles its owner to exclusive airdrops, special AMAs, private contests, and other "surprises." This will be the next step in a broader partnership between the team and Tezos.
Lucréce receives reply from Manchester United
Later, Lucréce revealed via his network that, thanks to the community and Tezos for their support, he had received a response from United, hoping to reach an agreement, stating that the club had not contacted him due to the holiday. Many of his followers expressed delight at the club's response, admiring the artist's polite way of handling the matter not the usual way Twitter handles controversy.
