On May 23, Anthropic, an artificial intelligence (AI) security and research company, announced a $450 million Series C round led by Spark Capital, with participation from Google, Salesforce Ventures, Sound Ventures and Zoom Ventures.
The developers say the funding will be used to build "useful, harmless and honest AI systems including Cloud, an AI assistant that can perform a variety of conversational and text processing tasks." The company is currently building new features, such as 100K context window the s , which allow users to submit hundreds of pages of material to be digested and analyzed by its digital AI assistant, Claude. Yasmin Razavi, a general partner at Spark Capital, will also join Anthropic's board of directors as part of the funding round.
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, CTO Greg Brockman, and Chief Scientist Ilya Sutskever collectively warned that superhuman AI could be within a decade, writing, "We have to get it right."
