Following its integration with Chingari, an Indian social media platform that previously operated on Solana, the Aptos blockchain has experienced a significant surge in activity. Data shows that the number of new users on the Aptos chain has increased by a remarkable 900% compared to the previous month, with nearly 90,000 new users being added daily.
Chingari decided to migrate to Aptos on July 6 to provide its users with an enhanced experience after facing challenges with Solana's network downtime in 2022. The integration with Aptos has enabled instant on-chain features, such as virtual gifts, which has contributed to the recent surge in new users, according to Sumit Ghosh, co-founder, and CEO of Chingari. Aptos also introduced Chingari's new wallet, allowing users to earn tokens through engagement and content creation on the platform, which can be used to tip creators, buy vi rtual gifts, and non-fungible tokens.
The growth of Chingari is further fueled by India's massive economy of 1.4 billion people and the increasing adoption of cryptocurrencies in the country. India has been at the forefront of cryptocurrency adoption in South Asia. As of July 14th, Chingari accounted for 80% of all daily active users on the Aptos blockchain and 50% of all gas fees paid on the network, marking a remarkable increase of more than 500% month-on-month. Transaction volume also surged by 150% to nearly 2 million transactions per day. If this growth trajectory continues, Chingari is expected to surpass the total lifetime of StepN, the second-largest decentralized application (DApp) on Solana, in the next few days.
The CEO of Chingari, Sumit Ghosh, estimates that if the growth persists, the platform could reach 1.25 million users by the end of July, 10 times faster than on Solana. By the end of the first year, Chingari aims to have over 20 million on-chain users and cumulatively over 200,000 APT paid as gas fees. The migration to Aptos is part of a trend where DApps are seeking better on-chain performance and availability across various blockchain networks, with game publisher Mythical Games recently migrating from Ethereum to the Polkadot ecosystem due to Ethereum's slow transaction speed and high transaction costs.
