Over the years, Crypto has forayed into various industries, giving users the unique ability to micro-monetize their actions. Playing money-making games, as well as earning money from music streaming, has been a precursor to this crypto integration.
According to Cointelegraph, Value podcast platform Fountain announced a new partnership with ZEBEDEE, a financial services company that helps monetize games and apps, to enable Bitcoin on Jan. 24, Micropayments for podcast listeners.
Oscar Merry, founder and CEO of Fountain, calls the ability to listen to podcasts and make money from them a powerful mix and the future of content creation. Additionally, through a partnership with ZEBEDEE, users do not need to know anything about cryptocurrencies to take advantage of rewards through debit and credit card integration. The CEO told Cointelegraph that by using the Bitcoin Lightning Network, instant, permissionless and low-fee payments can be programmed to work within the Fountain app and other open RSS standards.
According to Merry, such a development connects a "fragmented podcast industry" that currently operates across numerous asynchronous applications and hosting providers. He went on to emphasize that every minute spent watching ads and consuming or creating content increases the value of the platform. As developers continue to prioritize utility in new protocols, adoption of the nascent technology becomes all but invisible. More recently, a "money party" initiative aimed at the electronic music industry aimed to create a common currency among festivalgoers, clubbers and fans.
